Winning House Team
Time Out works in close partnership with the school and has been providing quality before- and after-school care for local children for over 15 years.
Time Out operates from two sites: the main base at Sherburn in Elmet and the sister site at South Milford Primary School.
Time Out at South Milford provides care during school term time only, opening from 7.30am to 9am and 3.15pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Children are collected from their classes and cared for on-site in their own facilities within the School.
Time Out aims to provide a safe, secure and relaxed environment for all the children in our care. We endeavour to provide an atmosphere and activities that are fun and enjoyable.
We take pride in being able to offer our families flexible childcare to suit your family needs.
What we offer
Time Out at South Milford opened in September 2006, and is registered to provide childcare for up to 24 children aged 3 to 11 years.
We are based within South Milford School with our own room and full use of the extensive school grounds and large indoor hall.
Activities are many and varied and include arts and crafts, construction, creative play, Wii, DVDs, books, cookery, games, imaginary play, playing outside and having lots of fun. Some activities are centred around a theme which staff arrange on a weekly basis and are linked to the learning outcomes of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage). During their time at our club children choose activities that suit them best and are assisted in their play as needed by staff.
A snack and drink are provided each day; however this is not intended to substitute for a main evening meal that your child may receive at home. We promote independence, by encouraging the children to serve their own snacks, and to clear away after themselves. Fresh drinking water and juice is available at all times. Individual dietary requirements and parental preferences are met wherever possible. We recognise the importance of healthy nutrition for children delivered in a calm, friendly setting, but request that food be consumed whilst sitting at the snack table.
Time Out is staffed by a manager, deputy manager, and several play workers. Most of our staff work at both settings. This helps to provide continuity of care whilst covering absences, when staff are ill/holidays or attending courses. Our aim is to provide a smooth transition between school and Time Out at all times.
All our staff have full Criminal Record Bureau checks and are fully vetted to work with children and comply with EYFS requirements for registered childcare. Every staff member is first aid qualified and trained to care for children from the age of 3yrs upwards. Our staff are professionals and are expected to undertake professional development training and maintain statutory guidelines at all times. We maintain a staff/child ratio of 1:8 for all children under the age of eight, in line with statutory requirements.
