Before and after-school care at South Milford School

Time Out works in close partnership with South Milford School and has been providing quality before and after-school care for local children for over 21 years.  Time Out operates from two sites: our base here within South Milford School and our sister site at Athelstan Primary School.                                                   Time Out at South Milford provides care during school term time and some holidays, opening from 7.30am to 9am and 3.15pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday.                                                                                           Children are collected from their classes and cared for on-site in their own facilities within the School.

Our Aims                                                                                                                                                             Time Out aims to provide a safe, secure, and relaxed environment for all the children in our care. We endeavour to provide an atmosphere and activities that are fun and enjoyable.                                             We take pride in being able to offer our families flexible childcare to suit your family needs. 

What we offer                                                                                                                                                      Time Out at South Milford opened in September 2006 and is registered to provide childcare for up to 30 children aged 3 to 11 years.                                                                                                                               We are based within South Milford School within our own room and full use of the extensive school grounds and large indoor hall.                                                                                                                            Activities are many and varied and include arts and crafts, construction, creative play, computer games, films, books, cookery, games, imaginary play, playing outside and having lots of fun.  Some activities are centred around a theme which staff arrange on a weekly basis and are linked to the learning outcomes of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage).  During their time at our club children choose activities that suit them best and are assisted in their play as needed by staff.

Staffing                                                                                                                                                              Time Out is staffed by a manager, deputy manager, and several play workers.  Most of our staff work at both settings.  This helps to provide continuity of care whilst covering absences when staff are ill/holidays or attending courses.  Our aim is to always provide a smooth transition between school and Time Out.        All our staff have full DBS checks and are fully vetted to work with children and comply with EYFS requirements for registered childcare.  Every staff member is first aid qualified and trained to care for children from the age of 3yrs upwards.  Our staff are professionals and always maintain statutory guidelines.  We maintain a staff/child ratio of 1:8 or 1:15 depending on the age of the child, in line with statutory requirements.
