Winning House Team
Our whole-school performance of Seussical the Musical in June 2019 brought together the whole community of South Milford.
Almost 200 children, ranging in age from four to 11, took to the stage at Sherburn High School to perform in front of packed audiences totalling more than 800 community and family members.
Seussical is a fantastical, magical extravaganza and inspired the children to bring to life all of their favourite Dr. Seuss characters – including Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and Gertrude McFuzz.
Our head teacher, Mrs Lawrence, praised the children for “amazing us with their singing, acting, dancing and enthusiasm”.
“It was a huge success for the school and the whole community working together,” she said. “The children are, quite simply, brilliant. They have amazed us with their singing, acting, dancing and enthusiasm. We have discovered hidden talents on this journey, which is one of the richest bonuses of working on a project like this.
“We have had so many memorable moments as well as the thrill of performing on a stage.
“I would like to pass on my thanks everyone involved, including Sherburn High School for the use of their school, our wonderful parents, our PTA, all the volunteers and the companies who have supported us.
“You can’t put on a show like this without the support of the staff, who have been amazing.
“Most of all, though, our wonderful children deserve the credit – they have really shone,” she said.
Our brilliant whole-school performance of Seussical.
All the children took part in a Dance Through The Decades to raise money for Children In Need.
From our Year 6s in 1950s fancy dress to our youngest Reception children dancing to a contemporary song, we went out into the community to perform in front of a crowd of South Milford residents.
Thank you to everybody who took part in this amazing event.
