At SMPS, our vision is to develop positive attitudes and respect towards all languages and cultures. Our pupils are taught to develop an interest in learning other languages in a way that is enjoyable and stimulating. We aim to help pupils grow as curious, confident and reflective language learners and to provide them with a foundation to equip them for further language studies. We encourage pupils to expand their horizons to develop their awareness and understanding of other countries, cultures and people.
The teaching of Spanish at SMPS provides excitement, enjoyment and challenge for pupils, helping to create enthusiastic learners and to develop positive attitudes to language learning through life. Our Spanish curriculum is designed to progressively develop pupil’s skills acquisition, and their ability to use and apply a growing bank of vocabulary organised around topics. Pupils are encouraged and supported to develop their speaking and listening skills through conversational work, singing activities and games. As confidence and skill grows, pupils record their work through pictures, captions and sentences.
